Reebok Work Safety Standards Guide

Understanding Reebok Work Footwear Safety Standards

Safety footwear should be selected for the hazards and requirements of the intended workplace. Reebok Work models may carry different safety standards and protective features, so always check the individual product specification and footwear label before selecting a model for a particular job.

ASTM F2413: Protective Safety-Toe Footwear

ASTM F2413 covers performance requirements for protective safety-toe footwear and can include requirements relating to impact and compression resistance as well as additional hazards such as electrical hazard, static dissipative and puncture-resistant performance when those classifications apply to the footwear.

ASTM F2892: Soft-Toe Protective Footwear

ASTM F2892 applies to soft-toe protective footwear. A soft-toe model does not provide protective toe-cap impact or compression protection, but individual styles may include other performance features depending on the model.

Electrical Hazard (EH)

Electrical Hazard footwear is designed to provide a secondary source of protection from electrical shock in environments where a wearer might accidentally step on a live wire or charged electrical equipment. It is not intended for deliberate contact with live electrical circuits. Only rely on EH protection when the specific footwear model is identified as EH-rated.

Static Dissipative (SD)

Static dissipative footwear is designed to transfer static electricity from the wearer to the walking surface, helping protect sensitive equipment from electrostatic discharge. Reebok Work also uses Dual Resistor SD technology on selected models. SD footwear serves a different purpose from EH footwear, so the correct classification should be matched to the workplace requirement.

Puncture Resistant (PR)

Puncture-resistant footwear is designed with protection in the sole area to reduce the risk from sharp objects penetrating through the bottom of the footwear. Check the individual model specification to confirm whether puncture resistance applies.

Slip Resistance

ASTM F3445 establishes performance requirements for evaluating footwear slip resistance using a laboratory whole-shoe test method. Laboratory slip testing does not guarantee the same performance in every real-world surface, contaminant or workplace condition, so footwear selection should consider the actual environment.

Safety-Toe Materials

Reebok Work safety footwear may use composite, alloy or steel toe caps depending on model. Composite toe caps are non-metallic; alloy toe caps use lighter metal blends; and steel toe caps provide traditional metal protection. The applicable safety rating should always be confirmed from the model specification rather than assumed from the toe material alone.
